J, Fitzgerald M, C, Throdahl Prof. George Whitesides of MIT Is interested In a second PCB project to complement the project at Cal Tech. Prof, Whitesides Is preparing a written proposal which will Include at least a two-fold approach to the problem: (1) aromatic hydrolyzatlon with a cytochrome enzyme system and (2) collaboration with Prof. Danny Wong, a microbiologist at MIT, to develop mutant organisms that will feed on PCBs. This project will be approximately $25,OOO/year and will require a conmltment for two years to a senior level man. Prof. Whitesides expects to locate a proper individual in the first quarter of 1979.
