Cole's weekly letter on the subject of an alleged lead poisoning which ?fas investi gated about a year ago. nA little over a year ago Judge Metz of Basin, Wyoming, advised me that a city employee of Thermopolis, Wyoming was reported to have a case of lead poisoning. His interest in the matter was that he had to make the decision regarding Workmen's Compensation. This employee had worked for the City Water Department and had had a severe chlorine exposure due to a valve failure. Sometime later he lost idle sight of one eye and then lost the other. He had visited many doctors and finally went to the Mayo Clinic where they gave a diagnosis of lead poisoning. This whole matter was referred to Dr. Sanders and to gether we contacted Judge Metz. "It now appears that this man is suing the City for #10,000 and the matter was brought to the attention of the Continental Oil Company Field Man in Thermopolis, who in turn passed it on to Mr. Paxton of their Denver office. Mr. Paxton contacted our Mr. Lindstromberg of Denver and Worm called me regarding the matter. It is my understand ing that Don Flynn has advised that Mr. Paxton write Dr. &ehoe. Continental is in on the matter in view of the fact that they supplied the city with gasoline during the time this employee worked for the city in the Water Department. I personally know Judge Metz very well but shall withhold contacting him until further advice is received from our Medical Department." We shall do nothing further in this case until we hear from you. Since it now seems to involve one of our customer companies, it seems that prompt action should be taken on the matter even though it is quite evident that no lead poisoning was involved.
