I. ' GENERAL DESCRIPTIONT
Fiber covered by this specification shall be crocldolite {blue asbestos
of tbc aapbibole type). An ~in9irea saaple shall be submitted by the
vendor which will be used to determine whether incooling shipments compare favorably with this sample is regard to color, general appearance, and general characteristics.
II. DETAILED RBpOIHEMPITSt
The fiber, when tested in accordance with JM Test Method TR-425-52 shall . conform to the following specifications!

III. SAMPLING PROCEDURE
lot - For purposes of settling, a lot shall consist of not over one car load, produced under essentially the sane conditions and offered for inspection at one time.
Procedure - From each lot the inspector shall take a sample from each of 25 bags at random. Five coaposite samples be prepared, each composite representing S separate bags.
IV. INTERPRETATION OF TEST RESULTS!

The test results of each composite sample shall conform to the detailed requirements of (2) above.
V. PACKAGING AND SHIPPING;
A. Fiber shall be packaged in a woven polyethylene bag, (polypropylenealternate) containing 50 kilos (110.23 lbs.) measuring 1016 m long x 546 mm wide x 241 mm high (40* X 21-1/2" x 9-1/2").
B. Bagged fibre shall be compressed into a bale containing six (6) bags,
for a total weight of 300 kilos (661.38 lbs.) and measuring 1118 mm
long x 559 m wide x 686 mg high (44* x 22" x 27") . Each bale shall
be banded with four (4) each 5 ns nail wires, equally spaced in the
length dimension and each securely sealed. Because of the clip pro
truding, a protective cover of some material should be applied or af
fixed to the clip to prevent tearing and or abrasion of adjacent bags.
A warning label with instructions for properly cutting the nail wire
shall be placed on clip side of the bale. Each bale shall be distinc
tly marked showing the fibre grade.

of two (2) steel straps, 12.7 n wide x .508 n thief (1/2* x .020*)
minimum shall be used to secure the six (6) bales to the pellet.
Protective material, such as pieces of paraweb sling, uolded plastic
strips, or equivalent; of sufficient length to prevent the steel
strap from cutting or abrading the fibre bags; shall be placed under
each steel strap at each location where the strap is in contact with
a comer of a bale. Each strap shall be securely tepsiooed and
sealed.

Total net weight for a six (6) bale (36 bags) palletized unit shall be 1.8 metric tons (3968 lbs.) and for a 'four (4) bale (24 bags) palletized unit shall be 1.2 metric tons (2646 lbs).

D. Shipment; Palletized units shall be loaded into standard 6.1 meter (20 ft.) long containers. Each container shall contain the following number of palletized units;
1. Preferred; Ten (10) palletized units, each containing 36 bags
of. fibre for a total of 360 bags, net weight of 18.0 metric tons
(39683 lbs.) per container.

2. Alternate; Nine (9) palletized units of 36 bags per unit plus one (1) palletized unit of 24 bags for a total of 348 bags, net ' weight of 17.4 metric tons (38361 lbs.) per container.
E. This material is classified as a hazardous material and shall be pack aged in accordance with DOT regulations 49 CFR.
NO FIBRE BAGS SHALL BE SHIPPED WITH BAGS DAHASEP AMP M3H5 EXPOSED.
ALL DAMAGED BAGS HOST BE TAPED KITE A MATERIAL TO INSURE COMPLETE AMD
ADEQUATE COVERAGE OF TftE DAMAGED AREA.
