Grumbles DATE: July II, 1984 SUBJ: POTENTIAL CHEMICAL EXPOSURES AWAY FROM THE WORKPLACE This letter is in response to your question concerning the potential for workplace chemicals to be "carried" home on employee clothing and present exposure potentials away from the workplace. This problem has been documented for several chemicals and substances. The process chemicals, additives, and maintenance materials used at OKC are not known nor would they be expected to present an exposure potential away from work due to contamination of clothing. This problem has been seen with some dusty materials, lead and asbestos in particular, and environmentally persistent materials, in particular mercury. In these documented cases, workplace exposures were excessive and exposures occurred over relatively long periods of time.
