We will respond to your letter in detail in the next few days. Meanwhile, both Applied Epidemiology, Inc. (AEI) and the Chemical Manufacturers Association (CMA) are suffering economic and other harm as a result of your delay in locating the missing death certificates. In particular, as we have discussed, AEI hired staff several months ago specifically to work on the vinyl chloride epidemiology study update. As a way to decrease this harm, I suggest that you instruct Donald Whorton and Nancy Gordon to copy the master tape on the study, blocking all death-related information that you consider confidential, and to send the sanitized version to Ken Mundt at AEI immediately. I am confident that you appreciate our concerns and will do everything possible to expedite the preparation of a sanitized copy from the master tape and the immediate delivery of that tape to AEI.
