However, it was disturbing to see so many cases involving exposures to VCM in excess of 50 ppm, particularly since they appear to be recurring in nature. I do want to express my support for the message contained in the last paragraph of your caver letter and to emphasize the importance of taking action now to correct and prevent exposures. I do not believe that any compliance officer would have much compassion for either a second offender or an employer who continued to permit over exposures to a material with a repu tation such as vinyl chloride possesses today.
