Hillman Date : June 10 > 1982 Subject: REACTOR EVACUATION STACK MODIFICATIONS - 1983 CAPITAL BUDGET Attached is the budget design to modify the discharge stacks for the two ex pansion reactor evacuation jets. This design will be part of the 1983 Capi tal Budget. This design is part of an effort to reduce VCM overexposure to plant per sonnel. Under windy conditions there is a possibility of VCM overexposure for those people working on the reactor and condenser platforms in each module during a reactor evacuation. VCM vapor evacuated from a reactor can be carried in the evacuation plume by the wind into these areas. To prevent this problem from occurring, this design will raise the stack height by 20 ft. in the old module and 25 ft. in the the new module to increase the effec tive plume height on the two expansion evacuation jets. These steps will cause the evacuation steam plumes to pass over the affected areas. With the extension of the stack in the new module addition, structural support to the stack will be required. The extension can be added to the old module evacuation stack without any structural revisions. By copy of this design to John Dixon, we are requesting a budget quality estimate.
