Thank you for your letter of September 2 related to The Vinyle Institute. I think it was a good initiative to create The Vinyle Institute in order to defend PVC and VCM against irresponsible attacks.
RHONE-POULENC POLYMERES is no more involved in VCM and PVC business : these two activities have been sold in 1981 to french oil Companies ELF and TOTAL, under the name of CHLOE Chimie.
Today, CHLOE Chimie, ATO CHIMIE and the mayor part of PCUK merge into a new company : ATOCHEM.
A complete reorganization is under way and I transmit the fi.le to Mr Philippe O'NEILL who is now Director of Vinyle Resins. No" doubt he will answer as soon as possible to your kind invitation to join The Vinyle Institute.
Mr Arsene SCHUN you met in 1982 is being Director of Plastics Group including polyolefines, polystyrene and engineering plastics.
We had in June a nice mass PVC licensees meeting in Annecy. We appreciated the participation of Ron KAMINSKI and David Di Rienzo. We should be pleased to assist you in developing research on mass polymerization.

This refers to your letter of September 15, 1983, inviting us to join the Vinyl Institute as an associate member.
We regret to advise you that we must decline your invitation to join the institute at this time.
As a member of the Japanese PVC Manufacturers Association, which has been promoting the growth of the PVC industry here, we have been supporting specific efforts by the association to protect and promote the industry. However, we are rather skeptical of such generalized industry efforts as suggested to be cost effective.
Should our situation change in this respect, we will, of course, advise you at that time.
