I noted that he is still "Acting" in his' posi tion. I would like to endorse his promotion. * X think that ve are making soma real progress. Much of that progress is related directly to the sincere and integral role being played by your man Kelley. We appreciate your making his time available to us and hope that his services will be permanent and not "acting." On another matter, two weeks ago I had a conversation with Dr. Selikoff in which he mentioned the HEW asbestos studies initiated in 1963. Eight years is a long time and while you may not have any publishable conclusions even after eight years, X am sure that you must have ac cumulated hordes of analyzed data which would be useful to us and. Indeed, essential in the development of a course of action to be taken by the Industrial Union Department on this hazard. This is to request, then, the release of such data as may be discoverable under the Public Information Law and departmental regulations.
