Pickett and McNally from Westinghouse, Bloomington, Indiana, will visit the Westinghouse factory at Vicksburg. Westinghouse management asked permission to have these people visit our factory at Anniston. Anniston supplies Westinghouse with all of their capacitor Inerteen; and the Westinghouse people have never seen our factory. The prime purpose of the Westinghouse visit is to discuss with our factory people the best methods for handling Aroclor 1242 to avoid problems of dermatitis and toxicology. Westinghouse admit to not being as careful as they should be. Frankly, I believe there are elements of "sloppiness", such as allowing the Inerteen to spill and soak into workmen's shoes and clothing without then changing the shoes and/or clothing. I know that Westinghouse consider use of Viton gloves, aprons, etc. It is foreseen that relating our experience about good housekeeping, and ordinary common-sense practice in handling Inerteen at Anniston, will be helpful and greatly appreciated by Westinghouse. In addition to the above, this would also be a good time for J im Bryant to tell Westinghouse of our experiences with up-grading Aroclor 1242 through use of Porocel. The efforts we are making to arrive at higher electrical properties should be related to Westinghouse, so they will understand the efforts we are making to provide Westinghouse with the best possible quality. If I am out of town when the Westinghouse visit to Anniston can be finalized, I have suggested that the Westinghouse people deal directly with Gerald Miller.
