Hampe Discussion of the findings with, the dissection of the body of a 54 year old man who worked'for thirty years C1317-1347) as "insulator" with a mlecture which contained asbestos. It appears from the clinical data that after about 24 years he began to complain .of pains due to asbestosis. In 1330, his validity was estimated as 60 per cent. In the middle of 1351 he complained of pain and getting tired easily. The patient died in the spring ^ ->f 1932. With the- dissection (No. S. 521721, asbestosis of the lungs was found with a large carcinoma in the left lower lobe and small tumors in the other lung fields and a general -dilation. The- -- histological type of tumor was benign. It was..not possible to discern whether there was a primary (possibly of multiple origin) bronchus carcinoma with asbestosis, or whether all focal points must be regarded as metastasizing from another primary tumor-- which was not demonstrable. The speaker gave a general view of the literature concerning so-called asbestos carcinoma, and of the internationally changing significance which is being given to asbestos as the cause of ( -ronchus carcinoma. V f 2 ' to interesting finding appears in this case with the histolo gical study of an unusual form of atypia and polyraorphia of a loderately large bronchus branch, clearly different from the so- called metaplasia due to chronic inflammation. The change of the epithelium caused, us to think of what also can be found in the vicinity of some primary bronchus carcinomas. Infiltrating ' growths were never found. Nothing could be found for sure concern ing the possible connection with found focal points in the lungs.
