The purpose of the meeting is to clearly define financial reporting processes. Tarita's excellent review and recommendations will be the basis for developing the process. The technical committee (Shan and Stu are the Shell reps) will meet on Aug 19 to develop a recommendation to present to the Oversight Committee (Patsy is the Shell rep) on Aug 20. By the close of the meeting we hope to have very clear financial reporting schedules, templates, responsibilities, etc. Also on the agenda for the Oversight Comm. will be finalizing plans for the Annual Meeting Aug 25-27, stakeholder engagement, and a report from the communications committee. This is all contingent on the study going forward. Hopefully, before this meeting, the sponsors call will have taken place and there will be a decision to continue to fund the study or pull the plug. Should the decision be to not go forward, then the meetings will focus on how to shut down. I spoke with Pat Beatty, ChevronTexaco, this morning. He indicated that Dave O'Reilly, CEO, would support going forward. Dave is organizing the sponsors call. Nancy, you should be contacted by someone in ChevronTexaco - probably Marty Bitter - to set up a time for the call. On another note, the lab in Shanghai has begun accepting cases. The protocols/test methods have been tested on beta subjects.
