The following respirators were found to exceed the OSHA assigned protection factor of 10, with median workplace protection factors greater than 100: 3M-8710 (disposable) 3M-9910 (disposable) Survivalr 2000 (elastomer facepiece) North 7500 MSA Comfo II (with Type H or Type F filters) When properly fit tested, these respirators can be used for protection against airborne asbestos concentrations less than 5 fibers/mL 8-hour TWA or 100 fibers/mL ceiling. One disposable respirator, American Optical R1050, offered lower protection factors (median of 50 and lower 5th percentile of 5).
