Hi David,
I hope that you are well. I was invited to join in on an upcoming "fly-in" for National Forest Advocacy Week in DC this week. The primary purpose of the group's effort is to ensure public participation and environmental review surrounding federal forestry management projects. There currently is proposed legislation that, while making an effort restore certain types of forest and protect communities from fire, that will not achieve those goals . The hope is that the proposed legislation will not be included in the 2018 Farm Bill.
Our primary goal is to meet with members of congress - specifically, we my group is focused on Ohio and Indiana. However, after speaking with Kent Knutson, I thought I might reach out to you to see if you may have a few minutes to meet. To be clear, I look at a meeting with you as an educational opportunity for me and our small team as opposed to a lobbying effort. I personally have zero lobbying experience or background in forestry management but there is no doubt I care about our national forests and what it provides for young people.
I land on Wednesday morning and I am trying to schedule meetings Thursday and Friday. I realize this is last minute so I understand if it doesn't work out.
I look forward to hearing from you. Best,
