Dear Dr. Kehoe: Dr. Parmelee one of Mr. Stecher's assistants at the lead plant showed me a letter he had received today from Mr. H. L. Miner, Head of Safety Department, B. I. duPont de Nemours &Company, regarding inquiry from the National Safety Council on the use of lead treated gasoline in blow-torches There were two points raised. The first was that there was considerable complaint that lead treated gasoline clogged Hie jets in the torches and caused considerable corrosion; the second point was that the use of lead treated gasoline was contrary to the rules and regulations on the use of motor fuels containing lead ' Mr. Stecher wanted to know whether we could give him any information. that would enable him to answer this letter In view of the recent circumstances on answering inquiries of this nature, particularly that concerned with the Standard Oil Company of NewJersey on treated gloves, I told him that I thought such matters should be referred to you for direct answering, as these questions were directly applicable to the use in. distributio of lead treated gasolines and not to the manufacturer of tetraethyl-lead. I don't knowwhat action Mr. Stecher will take but thought I would pass this in formation along to you. I refused to give them any information.
