N 4057 . j I 4 LIA20TA8 Annual ?iecting Minutes -2- REPORT OF SECRETARY May 3, 1947 n u! ! 1 The Secretary briefly summarized his annual report which is attached as Exhibit nA.n 1 In addition to the points covered by hia written re port, he mentioned that he had just received word from Australia that certain new anti-lead legislation had been passed in Queensland. He mentioned the importance of our i cooperation with the Australian lead industry which is repre sented in the association by the associate membership of the Eroken Hill companies, because such legislation, starting in places like Australia, can readily spread to other parts of the world. He also mentioned that the Industry Committee of the Army Industrial College, mentioned In his report, had been disbanded, and that its activities had teen taken over by the Amy and Navy Munitions Hoard, N'onferrous Vetals Industry Advisory Committee which met during the current week in Washington. The nesting was purely organisational. nXER-AE TP At E COMMISSION The Secretary told of his appearance as a witness in the Federal Trade Commission case against the ?;hite lead and red lead industries. A3 the Association has a clean 1 slate and nothing to hide, its testimony should be useful In disproving some of the allegations of the Federal Trade Commission. REPORT OF THF PRESIDENT Mr. Crane mentioned that he felt the strength of the Association lies in the fact that it represents both lead producers and consumers. In this he said it is probably unicue among Associations, but the principle adopted has proven its worth many times over. CRANE'S CONTINUANCE AS PRESIDENT________ The President reported very briefly that Ur. Woraser had resigned as Secretary, as everyone Vnes. tie said that he had written to the Executive Committee that in view of the change in the office of Secretary, he had volunteered to carry on as President during the transition period and that he had received many kind letters in reply, urging him to carry on. However, he felt that during the next year, the centers of the Association should begin to look around for his suc cessor.
