SUBJECT: VINYL CHLORIDE SAFETY ASSOCIATION MEETING November 10-12, 1971 Rochester, New York UCC 093114 2- - Gentlemen: Attached Is the program and agenda for the next meeting of the Vinyl Chloride Safety Association to be held in Rochester, New York, on November 10, 11 and 12, 1971. This meeting will be held at the Towne House Motor Inn on Mt. Hope Avenue. Please plan to make your own reservations directly with the Towne House. Rochester was chosen as the site for this meeting so we could take advantage of a generous offer from the Lucidol Division of the Pennwalt Corporation to show us their plant and help us Improve our safety knowledge in the handling and storage of organic peroxide catalysts. The afternoon and early evening of November 10th have been set aside for the trip to Geneseo, New York. Also, the early November weather In Rochester should be excel lent. At this meeting, we will have our usual short business session to elect new officers and to cover some general business items. As in previous meetings, most of our time will be spent in discussing the agenda topics. Something new has been added to our discussion agenda. The morning of November 12th has been left open for individual presentations and discussions concerning accident experience. You are urged to bring along one or two accident experiences to share with the group. Any accident or near-accident with accident prevention value would be suitable. Two speakers have been lined up to add two special events to the program. On November 11th, our evening dinner speaker will be Charles F. Kroshel , Bacharach Instrument Company, Division of AMBAC Industries, who will speak on "Vapor Detection Systems -Do VCM Users Really Need Them?" Mr. Kroshel has many years of experience In engineering and in the field of Johnson and Williams vapor detection protection systems. Our luncheon speaker will be announced later, but will be from the Environmental Protection Agency to speak on the Federal Health and Safety Act of 1971. The meeting will conclude at noon on November 12th, so you may arrange travel back home for early or mid-afternoon. Two copies of this program and agenda are being sent to you so you may forward a copy to any additional members of your organization who will be attending the meeting. Please inform me, in writing, by November 1, 1971, who will be attending from your company and include any specific questions you would like Lucidol to answer concerning catalyst safety.
