Gov. Scott Recognizes Four Florida Educators with the Governor's
Shine Award
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Today, during a Florida Cabinet meeting, Governor Rick Scott recognized four outstanding Florida educators with the Governor's Shine Award. The Shine Award is presented to teachers and administrators in Florida who make significant contributions to the field of education.

Governor Rick Scott said, "I am proud to present these outstanding educators with the Governor's Shine Award today. I applaud their dedication to our students and their hard work educating Florida's future leaders."
The following educators were presented with the Governor's Shine Award:
Kerry Adams, Wakulla County - Kerry Adams is the fifth-grade math teacher at Shadeville Elementary School and has been teaching for 12 years. She is the 2018 Wakulla County District Teacher of the Year and a recipient of the 2018 Dr. Brian Dassler Leadership Ward.
Bonnie Bresnyan, Hillsborough County - Bonnie Bresnyan is a veteran teacher with 31 years of experience educating Florida students. She is the kindergarten/first grade teacher of students with special needs at Lewis Elementary, and is the 2018 Hillsborough County District Teacher of the Year. Bonnie is also the recipient of the 2018 Mary J. Brogan Excellence in Teaching Award.
Alicia Foy, Florida Department of Education - Alicia Foy has 20 years of teaching experience and works at the Florida Department of Education as a Elementary Science Specialist. She is the recipient of the 2018 Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science.
Jennifer Powell, Leon County - Jennifer Powell the Dean of Curriculum at Griffin Middle School and has 12 years of experience as an educator. She is the 2018 Leon County District Teacher of the Year and a 2018 Invested in Excellence Award recipient from the Florida Consortium of Florida Education Foundations.
