"Lithosol" Fast Violet 4RNL - W. M. Bryant, III
This pigment, which is used in paint, is made by bleaching the acidfree crude, obtained by acid pasting "Fonsol" Brilliant Violet 4RN into boiling (>95C.) 5% sulfuric acid.. Normally, charges of the "Ponsol" were first piloted in' the laboratory tp determine if "they would make an acceptable "Lithosol". Our results on three composites
of fourteen charges of the "Ponsol" are listed below:
''Ponsol" Brilliant Violet
"Lithosol" Fast Violet

Based on these results, we believe that laboratory pilots are no longer necessary? dyetest on paper (R and Bri) being an adequate means of determining which "Ponsol" charges will successfully con vert to the "Lithosol" pigment.
