ABD00263678 To: P. J. Kober * Interoffice Communication From: D. A. Doherty Date: October i.4, 1988 Subject: Pond Resin - RVCM Reduction Attached is the review issue of a design for steam heating the Pond Resin Blend Tanks located in V-10. Also included is a revision of the exhaust system for these tanks. Incoming slurry from the Resin Reclaim pits currently averages 22 ppm RVCM after transfer to the V-10 Blend Tanks. This design will reduce the amount of RVCM by sparging steam into the slurry. The slurry will be heated to 150*F and held at that temperature for 5 hours. The current air exhaust system has piping which runs horizontally and consistently plugs with resin. To eliminate the plugging problem this design will replace the horizontal duct work with vertical piping. The existing fan will also be replaced with a larger volume fan to reduce the risk of VCM exposure while operating. Please contact me if there are any questions or comments about this design. D. A.
