We will now add your name to our mailing list for all bulletins relating to Licensees. I'm enclosing a copy of our currently released SHOE BULLETIN NO. 135, along with certain drum brake shoe illustrations which were released in that bulletin. As I've noted in the past, our shoe illustrations are mostly silhouettes or drawings from samples similar to those en closed. You will be kept on our mailing list for future copies of this bulletin. Your Membership will be effective July 1, 1987 and carry through our fiscal year to June 30, 1988. If you have any questions, please let me know. Sincerely, FRICTION MATERIALS STANDARDS INSTITUTE E. March 19, 1987 Mr. John I Svazic TABCO Auto Brake Co. Ltd. 849 Westport Crescent Mississauga, Ontario L5T 1E7 / U1 ^ 4> Dear Mr. Svazic: As I indicated on the phone earlier today, we had sent you the incorrect forms for your application for Licensee Membership in the Institute. The correct form is enclosed for your company, as a manufacturer of brake shoes. I am returning the earlier application marked as "Void." I have filled in all your data on the correct form and will need the following: (1) I need the information indicated on Items 8 and 9 of the Application Form (2) Your signature on Page 2 of the Application Form. If you could complete this form, and return it to us, we will get your application started for approval. My apologies for sending the wrong forms. Sincerely, FRICTION MATERIALS STANDARDS INSTITUTE E. Svazic TABCO Auto Brake Company 849 Westport Crescent Mississauga, Ontario L5T 1E7 Canada Dear Mr. Svazic: This is to reply to your letter of December 3, 1986 about FMSI Membership. Just to be certain that we are discussing the correct class of Membership, I'd like to briefly describe Regional Membership and Licensee Membership. Regional Member: A non United States resident (Canada) manufacturer . of brake linings gnd/or clutch facings Licensee: A manufacturer of brake shoes, materials for their attachment or assembly, or tools and/or equipment used in preparation and installation of friction materials. A rebuilder or remanufacturer is not eligible for either Membership, unless he is also a manufacturer of the above products from basic materials. You should read the Eligibility Paragraph (Page 2 of our Constitution) to be certain as to which Membership. I've enclosed the following: List of Membership (Active Members and Licensees) Constitution and By-Laws Application for Licensee Membership (2 copies) Services to Licensees The application form which I've enclosed is for those eligible for Licensee Membership as manufacturers of brake shoes. This would involve manufacturing the brake shoe from the basic steel using punch presses or other equipment to form and blank the steel. If you are a gasket manufacturer or a manufacturer of tools or equipment for brake preparation, that would take a different appli cation form. I will need to know what area of skill it is that qualifies your company for Licensee Membership, and then I could send you the .correct form. FNISl 15063 2 If you are a brake shoe manufacturer, you should complete the enclosed forms. Our fiscal year runs from July 1 to June 30. We are, therefore half way through our 1986-87 fiscal year. The Membership Fee is currently US$600 per year. It could be changed in the future. If you were applying, you should send your check in amount of US$600 to the Institute along with the applica tion form. If accepted, that payment will continue your Membership through June 30, 1987. If not accepted, your $600 would be returned. Sincerely, FRICTION MATERIALS STANDARDS INSTITUTE E. W. Drislane Executive Director EWD/dr Ends.
