HS&EA Industrial Hygiene Asbestos Monitoring at Institute Plant Attached are the results of asbestos exposure monitoring conducted on November 13, 1984 while construction employees stripped approximately 100 ft. of asbestos containing insulation from steam lines up on the pipe rack just North of the No. 1 powerhouse. Four construction employees were used on the job with two insulators to strip the insulation and two laborers to bag and clean up the stripped insulation. All employees were protected by the use of cartridge respirators, coveralls, gloves, and boots. The area was barricaded and a water spray was used to wet the insulation thoroughly before stripping. All samples were found to contain levels of asbestos fibers well below the present permissible exposure limit of 2.0 fibers per c.c. of air.
