Our products are used in different application like, food, beverages, pharmaceutical industry, power, chemical industry, pulp and paper, drinking water, bulk material handling, shipbuilding, public swimming pools, waste water handling, transportation, and so on. For these applications we supply butterfly valves and gate valves for handling of many different media. Depending on the medium inside the pipeline we use FKM/FPM and PTFE lining of the valves and different other materials for coating and housings in contact with the medium like Halar, Peek,... For most of these applications we don't have any other material solution because of chemical resistance, temperature or other reasons that FKM/FPM, PTFE, Halar or Peek. In case of a restriction we can't offer solutions any more for these application. SO it would not be possible to supply the mentioned industries with the suitable shut off and regulation valves in future, if these materials are banned until a technical comparable and economical alternative is available. Based on the public statement to the restrictions of PFAS from VDMA and EHEDG we will state that we see a general restriction of PFAS materials as problematic. From chemical resistance we have no other options at the moment which can substitute PTFE, FKM/FPM, Peek, Halar,.. at the moment. PTFE and FKM are common and well established approved materials in the processes of food and beverage, chemical and also pharmaceutical industry. These materials are classified as "polymers of low concern" according to the OECD criteria (see Position Paper on the Potential Ban of PFAS on Food Contact, Surfaces in Food Manufacturing/Processing Equipment by the European Hygienic Engineering & Design Group (EHEDG) from August 16th 2023).
