Dear Mr. Dahl,
The Asbestos Info~tion Association/~.-.Jorth \merica has addressed a letter to you e:x:pressinq its concern over the irresponsilJla .::i.dvartising by Mini Fi:Jers I:ic. of ;1eber City, Va., in which your Company's ndme is associated with a sarcastic and violent condemnation of asbestos fibre.
As a :-1ajor producer and user of asbestos we are naturally distrubed by such unfavorable Jublicity which is not aven accurate. However, we alao question ':-low your Company can condone any association with such ::,tatements when it is well lmo\-m that at least one of your foreign affiliates - the Van Gelder Co. of ~iolland - is a very substantial user of asbestos. Surely they would not like to be called a user of a "killer" raw material, nor would they agree with such a classification.
1--..ay we respectfully suggest, there:fore, that you use your good offices to cause Mini Fibers Inc. to withdraw this type of advertising from their f~turo practices. Although some u..'Ulecessary harm !nay -3.lready have been <lone, we feel that the best way to correct the situation is to avoid quietly any chance of further dano.ge to an important industry in which we are both invr:,lvcc1 in one way or another.
