LESSON ONE-MODULE 2 BRAKE SYSTEM SERVICE BRAKE INSPECTION PROCEDURES Usually the first step prior to performing any brake service is to completely inspect the brake system components. This inspection begins during the diagnostic process, and continues through to the completion of the needed repairs. HYDRAULIC COMPONENT INSPECTION Automotive brake systems use the force of hydraulic pressure to apply the brakes. Inspecting the hydraulic system is an important part if the brake inspection process. Any leaks in the hydraulic system must be corrected. NOTE: Brake fluid is water soluble and it is possible that all evidence of fluid leakage has been washed off if the vehicle has been operated in the rain or snow.
