They are all patients on whom you had received previous specimens. A3S-12S, has been receiving intravenous therapy with calcium ronate and intramuscular liver extract since April 29th. Her last blood count, on Hay 14th, 1943, was as follows: R.3.C. Hemoglobin Stippling 4,080,000 84% 63/50 P On Hay 26th, we had a check count at Bridgeport Hospital where they found she had a R.B.C. of 5,050,000 with 115% Hemoglobin. She still has head ache and some weakness. The physician who has been treating her on the outside as consultant for us discovered the presence of a large fibromyoma of the uterus. She is to have that removed this morning. ABS-22, still complains of weakness and malaise. She is sleeping better than previously. Constipation has appeared, but the sweetish taste in her mouth has decreased. Her blood pressure is now lBO/llO. Arthalgia and myalgia have become outstanding and are annoy ing to her. Laboratory examination at this time reveals: R. B. C. Hemoglobin Stippling 4,370,000 84/o 44/50 P It is interesting to note that she showed a sedimentation rate of 23 mm per hour (normal for women, by this method is 10 mm per hour). She is not working in the same area, but in one completely dissociated with lead. She has a lessened pallor, better appetite, etc. Her mental sta tus has not improved, but that is apparently a congenital affair. Her laboratory examination at present reveals: R* B* C Hemoglobin Stippling Urine, Alb. 0 4,400,000 78% 205/50 F Sugar 0 Today a urine and blood specimen were obtained on an employee of A.B.S. whose name was not given to us on our original survey of that area. ABS-108, is a 21 year old, white female who has been employed in this area for two years. On her initial physical examination in March 1941, nothing of note was found except for acne vulgaris of face, and den tal caries. At this time hemoglobin was 93/ and albumin was found in the urine. In May of that same year she had a transient complaint of upset stomach. In March 1942, her hemoglobin was 84/ and a plus-minus albumin was found in the urine. The carious teeth had been extracted. In December, 1942, a routine lead check-up was done. Constipation was noted. Labora tory examination revealed: R.B.C. Hemoglobin Stippling Urine, Alb. 4,110,000 82/ 50/50 F Plus Today she came in for her annual examination and, in the course of routine questioning, weakness and malaise were noted. Further interrogation re vealed sweetish taste in mouth, marked malaise and weakness and recent onset of mental excitement. Questionable pallor and drawn expression were present. Laboratory examination revealed: R.B.C. 4,450,000 Hemoglobin 83/ Stippling 130/50 Fields Urine, Alb. negative. A urine and blood were taken this morning for examination by your Laboratory.
