Corporation Chrysler Building New York City New York Dear Grahams I have a letter from Sevan together with a report from Morganthaler, indicating that the Gexman health authorities have raised certain questions as to the- hazards which might be expected to arise from the use of leaded, gasoline in stationery motors, particularly in mines and in other enclosed places* ^hey have also questioned the degree of accumu lation of tetraethyl lead in motor lubricating oil, and have specifically requested Morgenthaler to obtain information on these points as the result of experience and observations in the United States and elsewhere. In a general nay I can answer these questions adequately and 1 shall do so, but it seems unwise to do so hastily or to fail to cite such information in the form of data and observations which we may have, I would appreciate it very much, therefore,, if you would let me have any Information which you may have on these matters or which are other., wise available in the hands of any of the technical staff of the Corporation, I have one or two analyses on motor oil but I seem to remember that you had a fair amount of data on this question at one time, As to the use of stationery engines, it seems quite clear to me that if proper provisions are made for disposing of the carbon monoxide, the dangers from the point of view of lead will be negligible* On the other hand, if wo could cite instances of the use of such engines in mines or elsewhere for the benefit of the German authorities, it would be advantageous to do so.
