The unannounced inspection was conducted by Pamela Storm who possesses EPA inspector credentials to conduct CAA NESHAP asbestos inspections. The facility is a former Stevie B's pizza restaurant that is being renovated to become a liquor store. Interior Finish Permit #RIF2212-032 was issued by the City of Canton to applicant and contractor The Longleaf Group Southeast, LLC, 101 Overlook Circle, Canton, Georgia 30115 (phone: (770) 401-2490; e-mail: thelongleafgroupllc@gmail.com) on February 14, 2023. This permit was posted in the doorway of the facility at the time of this inspection. This permit lists the owner as RiverPointe / Canton, LLC, 400 Mall Boulevard-Stem, Savannah, Georgia 31406. This permit states that it is for "the interior buildout for retail package store." Also posted in the facility's doorway, Fire Suppression Permit #F2302-004 was issued by the City of Canton to applicant Marietta Automatic Sprinkler, 155 Wes Walker Memorial Drive, Suite 400, Ball Ground, Georgia 30107 (phone: (770) 380-2257) on February 24, 2023. A contact e-mail of mariettasprinkler@gmail.com was listed on this permit. This permit states that it is to "relocate and add sprinkler heads." No work was occurring at the site during this inspection, and the facility was locked. No people were present at the facility at the time of this inspection. The purpose of the inspection was to determine compliance with the CAA NESHAP Asbestos Standard and the regulations promulgated at 40 CFR Part 61, Subpart M, for the renovation activities conducted pursuant to these permits. The EPA Region 4 CAA NESHAP asbestos program targets facilities for inspection located in the State of Georgia based on tips/complaints; permits issued on a local level; and demolition and/or renovation/abatement notices sent to the State. This inspection was conducted based on the previously mentioned permits. Facility Information The facility is a former Stevie B's pizza restaurant that is being renovated to become a new retail liquor store. The EPA inspector noted the information in the aforementioned permits posted in the doorway of the facility. The inspector observed that renovations had been ongoing by looking through the facility window. Ceiling materials had been removed with pipes above the ceiling visible. Counters and tables from the restaurant previously located at the site had been removed. Conclusion The EPA inspector will follow up with the owners/operators of the facility and the renovation activity, as deemed appropriate, to obtain information and necessary paperwork related to this activity. This information will include, but not necessarily be limited to, copies of asbestos inspection reports, notifications, and waste shipment records for the facility.
