On November 25, 1981, we fired the burner at maximum rates for a short period because of an upset in the over-all steam system. Operation was unsatisfactory during that firing. Burner modifications and additional fine-tuning were performed. Satisfactory full rate operation was achieved on December 16, 1981. Sampling of the twin boiler 11-86 3.0 to demonstrate compliance with the NOx standard was conducted on December 17, 1981. This boiler is identical in design and operation to Boiler H-3620. We hereby request your approval to submit these results in satisfaction of 40 CFR 60.8 test requirements for both Boilers H-8610 and H-3620. Because the sampling, if required, must be completed by February 14, we appreciate your early consideration of this request. If you have any questions or need additional infor mation, please call our Ms. C. U. Graham at (713) 476-7735. Very truly yours, I'"- Hi R. V.
