The Senate cleared two Energy Department undersecretaries as well as the agency's chief fossil fuel energy official this afternoon.
Paul Dabbar and Mark Menezes were confirmed as undersecretaries of science and energy, respectively.
Dabbar is a former U.S. Navy nuclear submarine officer who has been managing director for mergers and acquisitions at JPMorgan Chase. Menezes most recently worked as vice president for federal relations at Berkshire Hathaway Energy.
Both men cleared the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee on a voice vote in August.
The chamber also approved Steven Winberg to be assistant secretary for fossil energy. Winber, who cleared the Energy committee in early October, is a program manager at the Battelle Memorial Institute, and had headed up R&D for CONSOL Energy. Winberg has been a member of DOE's National Coal Council and chaired the FutureGen Industrial Alliance, which backed an unsuccessful carbon capture project in Illinois.
