Manufacturers of Pittsburgh Gas Unit Heaters Cast Iron Heating Elements Cast iron is considered to be the best material to withstand the corrosive effects of the prod ucts from combustion of gases. For this reason, both the heat exchanger and.combustion cham ber in a Pittsburgh Gas Unit Heater are made of cast iron. Furthermore, they are cast in one piece and the extended heating surface fins on the heat exchanger are cast integral. Pittsburgh Gas Unit Heaters have been de signed to consume exactly the right amount of air to support complete combustion but without permitting an excess of air to lower heating effi ciency. This is accomplished by means of a built in draft hood which absorbs all excessive chimney action and thereby conserves heat. The heater does not depend upon forced draft from the fan for either the primary or secondary air supply. For this reason there is no possi bility of variation in the air,supply to the burn ers resulting from changes in fan speed or louver adjustment. Safety Features A tested and proved safety pilot is used on these heaters to auto matically turn off the gas if the pilot light goes out or if it burns too low to insure posi tive ignition.
