Oxidation of Liquid TEL
In answer to your recent inquiry regarding the oxidation of the TEL used in preparing an air-vapor mixture, we recommend that you add to the liquid 0.1 wt % trialkylphenol antioxidant, and I shall ask Harold Soroos to send you some.
In this connection, I enclose copies of our laboratory reports, LTD U3-53, "Basic Study of the Stability of Ethyl Fluid" and LTD UU-U7, "Decomposition Products of Ethyl Fluids" (you should have been on the original distribution list for these); also refer to LTD H7-17, "Oxidaof TEL Vapor in Air", which you have already received.
As you can see, we have never done much work on antioxidants for pure TEL, most of the work being on Fluid; however, the trialkylphenol should be very effective.
