Jackson The only place Bird & Son is using asbestos is in the ' manufacture of roof coatings and cements at Shreveport. I have visited the operation many times and am pleased to report it is very clean and more than meets all OSHA requirements. We do have one case on file. Prior to Bird & Son's purchase of the West Coast plants from Fibreboard (Pabco) in 1968, cements and coatings were made at the Portland plant. The operator was Dwight Casto, now retired from Bird & Son. The case is in the hands of Wausau Insurance Company. No other employees were exposed to the best of my knowledge. Attached is a recent memo from Jim Jackson which could further reduce our continued exposure at Shreveport. I'll ask him to look into the cost. FWW:JS 001171
