I 3CILER, CHEROKEE - -\M On 10-21-59 a high velocity thermocouple (HVT) survey was made on ho, 1 Boiler at Cherokee while burning coal, using the B 4 'ii thermocouple probe. ho, 1 boiler at Cherokee has the ,rmi11 nopie1* slag screen similar to what was installed in the field on Arapahoe #4 boiler after a high velocity thermocouple test on #4 at Arapahoe showed the original installation produced excessive temperatures enter ing the superheater. The location of the surveys is illustrated on Page 4 of the data sheets. The method of obtaining nine survey points at each door is illustrated at the bottom of Page 3. The actual temperatures obtained entering the secondary superheater as com pared to the expected from the Boiler Summary Sheets is plotted on Page 5. Prom the curve on Page 5, it 'will be noted that Opening #13 (horth Side) is about 200F higher than expected, This is uhe average (2215F) temperature of the gas entering the secondary superheater on the north side. The data sheets show that two points were 2300? or higher. Opening #14 (South Side) shows an average of 2092? or a ecus, 10GF higher than expectation with a maid-mum point of 2250F. Boiler #2 at Cherokee is to have a similar survey made. .ik cc: Tail - 2 haselkow - 1 Burt - 1 Brines - 1 Bahret - 1 HMtt.A'-a ~ 1 Hfci WAD00044 WAD00043
