This information was required so that you might perform your own tests on experimental eoatlngs containing "AW Processed" Amoslte fiber. These procedures and minimum requirements are contained in the Specification No. 10J Semantic Pipe Coating. Section 1 Item *2 lists the physical properties and Section 17 Methods of T e s t describes the test procedures in detail. . . . A copy of flpeolfloatlon 10J is attaohed for your informa tion. Also attached is a prepublication oopy of the new Asphalt Institute specifications on underground pipe coatings which contain In Section C-3 additional information on test procedures applicable to Somastle Pipe Coating* In order to approve the alternate Amoslte fiber and to determine the optimum concentration of this fiber in Somastle Pipe Coating It will be necessary to prepare several mastic mixes identical in all respects except for a difference in the Amoslte concentration. The difference in Amoslte concentration should vary over the possible fiber content range that is 0.253* to ljf. Prom each of these mixes is prepared specimens to be tested for tensile strength i^paot strength snd bending reslstanoc. On the basis of results determined from these tests a dsolslon on the optimum fiber content ean be made. If we can be of any additional resistance please do not hesitate to oall on us.
