They highlighted the need to move fast on the universal restriction under REACH. PFAS water pollution is an increasing problem for the water sector, as treatment solutions are costly and limited. Stringent PFAS limit values in drinking water as well as solutions to avoid PFAS being transferred to sludge should be priority. Commission representatives recalled the objectives of the Chemicals Strategy for Sustainability, recognized the serious problem of PFAS pollution, and, as regards the REACH restriction, highlighted that this is currently not with the Commission but under ECHA's assessment.
