MOLDED LININGS American Brakeblok molded linings are, available in wide range of established sizes. All segments and sets are formed for the specific drum diameter of the particular application. Set numbers in the 17,000 series have been es tablished by the Friction Material Standards Insti tute (or BLMA) for specific industrial applications. Set numbers in the 16,000 series are assigned to sizes for applications not covered by an FMS1 number. Some of these offer a broader coverage than 17,000 series sets, by trimming to length with a minimum of wastage. * Some 16,000 and 17,000 series set numbers in dicate segment lengths exceeding 150 degrees of arc or circumference. These sets are marked with an asterisk (*) in the size 'table of this catalog. These sets will be supplied in lining lengths to equal the amount of coverage shown for the set, but not to exceed 120 degrees of arc. Even when an application is listed in our catalog it is well to check the dimensions with the applica tion to make certain that the proper size is ordered WHEN ORDERING LINING for sizes not covered by a set number, the following minimum data is required to assure the obtaining of the proper size. 1. The make and model of equipment. 2. Identification of band (swing, hoist etc.) 3. The manufacturer's part number of the lining to be replaced. 4. The drum diameter. 5. Brake type (external contracting or internal expanding). 6. Lining width and thickness. 7. Length of segment (preferably under 150 of arc length.) 8. Number of segments required. WOVEN LINING Heavy Duty Woven Lining is available in 25 foot coils. Sizes range from 1 to 12 inch widths, and thicknesses from 5/32 to 1-1/4 inches. This material has been tested under conditions more severe than any encountered in actual service and reveals a high resistance to heat and wear. In actual operation, it has proved itself with highlevel performance on construction equipment, drill ing machinery and heavy duty vehicles -- both on and off the road. CLUTCH FACINGS Clutch facings are available in organic and metal lic constructions as listed. Organic type facings are available in "ST" type. This cohstruction is a formulation of asbestos cord woven to size and impregnated with a highly developed friction com pound. Facings are available grooved as specified by clutch manufacturers. SINTERED METAL FRICTION MATERIAL Metallic Friction materials are produced by blend ing various metallic and non-metallic powders. The ingredients are compressed and sintered to a steel backing under pressure and high temperatures. American Brakeblok sintered metal friction ma terials for clutch and brake application are in tended to supplement organic friction materials but not to replace them. Under severe operating conditions, metallic facings assure longer life. Metallic applications are shown in the alpha betical section of the catalog for the intended make and model. For quick reference, a numerical list of metallic parts is also shown. SIZE INDEX This catalog does not contain a numerical list of brake lining part numbers. The size index lists all known applications by dimension, from the narrowest width to the greatest and with a complete thickness range in each width. The size index will facilitate the location of the proper application where the ordering number is unknown.
