WAXED EXTRUDATES The 6" Extructor arrived at the plant on 8/3/84 and was running by 8/7/84. All four grades of extrudate have now been run successfully at rates from 200 - 240 lbs/PHR for Phthalate to 450 - 500 lbs/PHR for Sulfate and Carbonate. The system is now being fine - tuned to optimize through put, physical quality of extrudate and ease of operation. Technical data for a sales brochure are being generated. All data other than retention,of Tensile and Elongation will be -t completed by 8/29/84. Retention of Tensile and Elongation will be run in Bridgewater. ^ Requests for new MSDS's have been initiated. The data in table I are preliminary data intended to check the quality of the product, and are not part of the sales data being prepared. 2. PPG PPG has run salt spray on Cyastab 40 lots 261 - 264. These lots had low oil absorption (12 - 13) and predominantly 4-2-1 crystal form (63 - 85%). They were all found to have excellent salt spray resistance. This would seem to indicate that oil absorption, and not crystal form, is. the critical factor. The Technical Review in Allison Park, Pa is on hold. PACKARD ELECTRIC The materials needed have been received from Bob Slapsak. Work has not been started due to the extrudate trials. 4 . TENNECO The sample of Tribase - oiled has been received. 5. ETHYL/ GEORGIA - PACIFIC A new supply of Masterbatch has been received. It was sent to Chicago, however, and will have to be sent on to Bridgewater. B. PLANT GENERAL 1. COMPUTER The Air Pallet Control Program is now being tested. C. COMPLAINTS There was one new complaint this month (PA 84-20, Kalex). This was the fault of the trucker. Dick Grossman, Synthetic Products, Stratford, Ct., called to discuss the appropriate Cyastab to substitute for Lectro 60 and Lectro 60XL, which are not available. A sample of Cyastab 918 was sent. B. Arnold Kelson, Anaconda W & C, Overland Park, Ks., called for a recommendation for a stabilizer for Chlorinated Wax. Samples of Cyastab 800 and 908 were sent. C. Dave Riley, Extrusion Engineer, Plainfield, N.J., called to discuss the LIA Pipe Project and requested that 50 lbs. of Cyastab 800 be sent to Ed White at Associated Lead. D. Jim Graham, PPG, East Point, Ga., called to report Salt Spray results and offer to have Allison Park run X- ray crystal lography on any over carbonated lab batches. E. Tom Spotts, Battelle Inst., Columbus, Oh., called to request a sample of Cyastab 40 for a project involving calendered rigid PVC. F. Robert Kappus, Kappus Plastics, Hampton, N.J.., called to discuss a problem calendering rigid PVC. He uses Cyastab 800 or Tribase, but says 800 runs better. G. Dick Dickinson, Dynamit - Nobel, Rockleigh, NJ. reports that Associated Lead cannot make Lectro 60 because of OSHA problems. He would prefer an unlubricated alternate (918). This is the Synthetic Products business referred to in A.) above.
