Sales for Deceaber were considerably better than for Boweaber. This la due to the fact that sales for Boweaber were below noraal and the sale of B.8.P. quality and waffle furnace oxides was better than usual.
Sales for January will be about 850,000 pounds. The falling off as compared with December is due to the fact that we were successful In holding down the sale of Anerloan process sine oxides.
Total sine oxide sales for the year 1944 were 16,373,783 pounds.
For the year 1943 they were 10,789*995 pounds. CVS accounted for approxlnately 5,400,000 pounds of the Increase. Taking this Into consideration, sales for 1944 to regular oustesssrs were about the sane as for 1943. Bowewer, sales of French process sine oxide on which we hawe a wore faworable wsrgla of profit were up and we were successful In selling e snaller tonnage of the American process sine oxides which are unprofitable.
Slnoe VP8 has restricted the use of dry white lead In paints there has been a further Increase In the dewsnd for leaded sine oxides. The denand has been greater than the supply, consequently an ewen wore serious situation has dewcloped. Ve are hawing quite a tine to keep our regular custosers satisfied with the amount of leaded sine we ration to then.

The Increase in the Seeeafeer sales vas doe to some buying ahead because of possible restrictions an the production of dry shite lead. This movement became accelerated during January and It la estimated that our sales for that month sill be about 2,200,000 pounds.
Ve anticipate very light sales for the next several months. At Xaat Chicago ve have approximately TOO tons of dry shite load In stock, vlth about an additional 300 toms In public varehouses. Unless considerable paint for the ear effort In shleh dry shite lead sill be used Is going to be made during the next several months, the 1,000 terns of stock sill be ample to carry us through the spring season.
Faint manufacturers have been very hard hit by the restriction on the use of dry shite lead In paint. Vhlto lead vas the one remaining pigment they oould fall back on. Lead-free sine oxide, 11thopone, and titanium pigments are either restricted or Impossible to get In sufficient quantity. These, together vlth shite lead, are the principal pigments used In manufacturing paint.
Sales for the year 1944 sere 13,290,940 pounds. Sales for the year 1943 sere 10,448,903 pounds.

To summarise, sine oxide sales for December sere better than normal but sill fail off a bit In January. Dry shite lead sales for January casw close to reaching an all-time high but because of the re strictions on the use of dry shite lead, ve expect very light sales for the next several months and this condition sill very likely exist until
VPH eases or eliminates the present restrictions on the use of dry shite lead.
