Box 100 6195 Ford-Wellpinit Road Wellpinit, WA 99040 Re: Violation for Failure to Monitor and Report Combined Radium (-226 & -228) Two Rivers Resort, PWS ID 105300123 Dear Ms. Wynecoop: The EPA did not receive sample results for Combined Radium (-226 & -228) for 4/1/2023 - 6/30/2023 as required under the National Primary Drinking Water Regulations (NPDWR), according to 40 CFR 141.26. As a result, Two Rivers Resort is in violation of the NPDWRs. Two Rivers Resort is currently scheduled to take 1 sample every quarter at New Pumphouse - Well #3. Results must be reported to the EPA by the 10th of the month following the sampling period. In this case, a sample was collected, but analytical results were received by EPA only for Radium-228. Combined Radium (both Radium-226 and Radium-228) must be analyzed when Gross Alpha results exceed 5 pCi/L. To return to compliance you must either: 1. Submit Combined Radium (-226 & -228) sample results from 4/1/2023 - 6/30/2023, if a sample was collected during the period. OR 1. Collect Combined Radium (-226 & -228) samples at New Pumphouse - Well #3 and submit the results to EPA. 2. Notify customers of this violation within one year in your Consumer Confidence Report (CCR). This letter serves as initial notification of non-compliance under the Safe Drinking Water Act for the regulation and time period cited. EPA supports compliance assistance and encourages early action to return to compliance. Issues not addressed in a timely manner may be referred to enforcement. Prior to an enforcement action for the cited violation(s), EPA Region 10 will offer government-to-government consultation, in accordance with the EPA Policy on Consultation and Coordination with Indian Tribes.
