A Toxline search on the subject inquiry found references indicating that:
1. Benzene and vinyl chloride are teratogens.
2. Hydrofluoric acid and tetraethyl lead are not teratogens.
Seventeen pertinent references were retrieved ON-LINE; a larger number were retrieved OFF-LINE and will, arrive on Friday from the National Library of Medicine.
Nine of the seventeen references, although they referred to teratogenic studies on animals or epidemiological studies, didn't give the results of the studies. The Toxicology Department has ordered these nine publications in addition to some others.
Words searched in this study were: ALL TERATO:, PREGNANCY, PREGNANCIES.
