EVC, the joint venture company of ICI (UK) and En^cnenO^taly) has the most advanced VCM/PVC technologies and inconstantly developing and improving its processes and produ<jt^aJ^/'v ----*--/ EVC's basic design will contain infiDrma^on pertinent to the actual job to fit licensee requirements.. ^S^VC's scope of supply could include, but not be limiteck^ta/ythe^following: Process Flow Diagrams Ny Piping and Instrument FJ^ow^Diacnrams Typical Plot Plan ^ Equipment SpecificationsK Instrument Specif icat^ofu^x * Materials of Const^upt^n 'x/ Review of Selected\Adent's Detailed Engineering Documents Operator Training^sN.,\ yOperating and LabO^ftory Manuals Start-up Assi^ta^He^ Performance Demq^S^ation Run Ongoing Imprjtyemdn^ Exchange and Consultation Should the client's) review of this report develop favorable interest to^progee^/further toward obtaining rights to the technology ^uitt!eEAva"^license agreement, EVC will be pleased to provide thg 'coiomete license package. 0032-0Q0-03A SEP 08 'gg 20:44 evC-TATNALL WILM &BD00198343 P.6/13 ft XX, nn.TwrvPlVg OF CONTINUOUS STRIPPING The objective of continuous stripping is to reduce content of PVC resin in a slurry from about 30,000 ppUK^toOselow a value which ranges from 1 to 3 ppm maximum dep^cting^upon resin grade and porosity. The advantages of con^inSpi stripping over batch stripping ares />. \s/./ 1* Lower residual VCM in slurry 2. Higher quality product /^ 3. Consistent and reproducible VCM^levei^ 4. Lower steam usage 5. Less operator attention reqn^r^^N/V X/ The particular continuous strippin^/^rogeas employed is an innovative development using a specia^c&ipmn design. III. FEATURES AND ADVANTAGES OF BVrCC TTEECtWHNoOLLQO*GY Distinctive features of the^^gig^/^e s - The lowest VCM content'^^/comp^'rison to the other stripping columns; \ N// - Flexibility in homogo^^dfc/grades, K57 to K71. - Flexibility in oper^fhg^rates, 100 tonnes per day to 300 tonnes pe^3Hy^PVC) . - Minimum of op[e^^o):jattention. - Very easy^grSc^*ctianges requiring no maintenance input. N t Kjl - No contamqirafcf^n - UnLik^other PVC stripping columns on the market, EVC's does'notAjieed scheduled washing operations. 0032-000-Q3A IV. ppnr.reSS DESCRIPTION The plant is designed to strip slurry from the strippex^feeji tanks at a solids design rate of 288 T/day (12 toimes/^ry with an upper limit of up to 300 T/day (12.5 tormes/hjn7*a4.lower limit of 150 T/day (6.25 tonnes/hr). Vv5' The battery limits of the plant commence witJi^Th^V^Leaving the stripper feed tanks and finish with str^pedsplmrry entering the stripped slurry tanks (see arc^cHed flowsheet). Slurry from the selected feed tank (Itemfl^ passes through the appropriate valve to the lump breaker(Item 2). The purpose of the lump breaker is to reduca^the dimensions of any lumps or scales of PVC to a maximum ' to prevent blockages in the heat exchanger a ntemals. Slurry is pumped to the stripping col lurry feed pump (Item 3) The slurry is metered and prehq^te`4 \in a slurry/slurry heat exchanger (Item no. 4) by leaving the stripping column. Preheated slurry f^oia tW^elurry/slurry heat exchanger is distributed within the/bol^ir^ (Ttem 5). The controlled steam flow enters at th^b^se 6f/the column. The steam flow rate controls the time 't^keji for the slurry to pass down the column (mean residenc^^lm|>^and is varied for the different grades of PVC. A conda^s^rs/fltem 7) at the top of the column condenses excess st^M^and^also cools the VCM which has been stripped from the column "before passing to the monomer recovery system. The leyeX^o^'^ljirry in the sump of the column is measured and contro'lled; The stripped slurry is pumped from the column by uhd_ sljiyry discharge pump (Item 6)r through the slurry/slur^y-he^t^jchanger and through a slurry cooler (Item 8) to the strdipp^^Blurry tank (Item 9). Then the slurry can be fed to ^he^c^n^rifuges and dryers. For start-up^-^shutdown, standby and abnormal conditions, processfj^ater is directed to selected points via a programmable ^-^Uer (PLC)% 0032-000-03A SEP 08 '89 20:46 EVC-TPTNPLL WILM DE V.
