Interior officials had many questions and the time was insufficient to accommodate all of the questions, even though we allotted more than half the time to discussion and questions. It was for that reason that a longer time was scheduled for the April 17 briefing. The team coming next week was tailored to cover the information Interior requested. The individuals traveling to Washington are: Peter Velez, Shell Oil Company, head of global response (retired) briefing team lead Don Armijo, President, Marine Well Containment Company Carol Lloyd, Senior Advisor and former Vice President of Upstream Research, ExxonMobil Dan Domeracki, Vice President, Schlumberger Matt Givens, Cameron Well Control I am copying Kate MacGregor because this briefing was scheduled at her request. The team is scheduled to come to Washington and is arriving the afternoon of April 16, so an earlier briefing is possible. The question for the Department of Interior is will this meet the needs as requested? Kate and Scott Angelle were also planning to participate and perhaps they could stay, should the longer briefing be necessary. The actual planned presentation is about 30 minutes, depending on discussion and questions and the balance of the time was because of the past briefing running short on time. Kate, I would appreciate your thoughts regarding the adequacy of the above approach. Based on the planned Interior briefing, the team has scheduled an April 17 afternoon briefing with senior officials at the Department of Energy, which complicates rescheduling. Thanks. We have a little more material, because we have added the 3 new requested topics; well control preventative technology, well control technology response to a loss of control, and oil spill technology. This is in addition to a much shorter summary of the NPC Arctic report summary for those not at the last briefing. All of this can be done within an hour, while also providing time for some discussions and questions. The additional 30 minutes was to provide time so that should the Interior folks have additional questions, there would be an opportunity to address them while the team was available. We can be flexible if some of the Interior folks need to leave and others wish to stay for more discussion. If there aren't additional questions/discussion, we will be done early. Also, I know Joe sent the email this morning about starting earlier. If that makes life easier, we can adjust that on Monday. This is an oilfield crowd and they are used to getting up early.
