Asbestos - Stripping Old Insulation
PROJECT
Survey for asbestos exposure of insulators stripping insulation from a four-inch steam line located in the service pit of Building 720, south side.
DATE OF SURVEY May 4, 1979
SUMMARY AND CONCLUSIONS
Good judgement and proper housekeeping techniques by insulators kept the exposure to asbestos fibers at a minimum. The job was wet down with a water hose and dismantled with the minimum amount of cutting. Mr. R. Raines and Mr. E. Davis were involved with the work. Mr. Raines did the actual stripping and wore a 3M disposable dust mask and gloves. The stripped material was bagged and labelled for landfill.
The exposure was well below the TWA of 2 fibers/cc and a ceil ing value of 10 fibers/cc.
