Administrator Pruitt,
On behalf of the Association of Air Pollution Control Agencies (AAPCA), thank you for the recent opportunities to engage with U.S. EPA and provide feedback on critical Clean Air Act issues. AAPCA is a consensus-driven organization focused on assisting state and local air quality agencies and personnel with implementation and technical issues associated with the federal Clean Air Act. The Association represents more than 40 state and local air agencies, and senior officials from 20 state environmental agencies currently sit on AAPCA's Board of Directors. AAPCA is based in Lexington, Kentucky as an affiliated association of The Council of State Governments (CSG).
We are writing to invite you to attend and present at AAPCA's 2018 Spring Meeting, which will be held in Lexington, Kentucky from April 4 - 6 . More information is available in the enclosed invitation from 2018 AAPCA President Stuart Spencer, Associate Director of the Arkansas Department of Environmental Quality, and 2017 AAPCA President Sean Alteri, Director of the Kentucky Division for Air Quality. Regular attendance by senior U.S. EPA officials at Association meetings has been greatly valued by our membership. AAPCA's 2017 Fall Business Meeting included participation from over 150 attendees, including senior air officials from more than 30 state and local environmental agencies. Participants also included nearly 40 U.S. EPA staff from the Offices of Air and Radiation, Research and Development, Inspector General, and Enforcement and Compliance Assurance, as well as several EPA regions. Our members would be especially interested in hearing from you and your staff about recent and forthcoming Clean Air Act issues, cooperative federalism, and opportunities to work together on issues like NAAQS nonattainment, interstate transport, air toxics, and resource priorities.
Please let me know if you have any questions about AAPCA's 2018 Spring Meeting, or if we can serve as a resource on any Clean Air Act issues in the future.
