Varnish 8c Lacqu to YORK, OCTOBER 23, 19^3 - New York Society for Taint Technology will honor Everitt J. Cole and Ralph H. Everett, its two living founders, at a dinner November 7th at The Brass Rail in New York City. All former presidents of the Society have been invited to attend. A special program has been arranged by the Historical Com mittee. Highlights of the Society's history will be presented by Austin 0. Allen, former Society president and chairman of the Historical Committee and Ralph H. Everett, Carlton H. Rose, Frederick M. Damitz and Irving Flaumenhaft, all former presidents. A bound volume of the forty-four year history of the Society will be presented to the members by Austin 0. Allen. New York Society for Paint Technology was formed in June 1919 when Everitt Cole and Ralph Everett first met with six other technical men in Garretts Restaurant in New York City for the purpose of interchanging ideas on technical problems in volved in the manufacture of varnishes. From this small beginning evolved the tech nical society of over J+50 members encompassing the protective coating industry of the Metropolitan New York area. Both Mr. Cole and Mr. Everett have been active in the paint industry for over fifty years. Mr. Cole was formerly technical director of Hilo Varnish Company at Brooklyn, New York, and has been secretary-treasurer of Manufacturers Varnish Company Inc. at Brooklyn, since 1933* He is a graduate of Polytechnic Institute of Brooklyn. Mr. Everett, formerly secretary of Keystone Varnish Company at Brooklyn, recently retired as executive vice president of M. J. Merkin Paint Company at New York after 19 years of service.
