Brown: I read with much interest your letter oi April 23 and Dr. Gardner's report. I had discussed this general subject with his and he tol'd se it was his growing conviction that the action of asbestos dust was nechanical 'ana not chemical. I as inclined to think this is the ansv;er because it seess to satisfy the peculiar inconsistencies that we noted in our surveys, particular ly the lacx of any appreciable evidence of astestosis in Thetforc and the occasional case found in the textile plants, as well as the difference between our experience and that of the British. It seems to me that all this is very much in favor of the industry because it enormously simplifies the question of the control and prevnntion of asbestosis. I am returning the photographs.
