Other: ARSONS INTERVIEWED: Brian Carr, Consultant Home Phone number 415-457-7770 Wolfgang Eisenhut, Chemist OCT 2 9 1976 ucT'c_audr|a IALL OBJECTIVE: Attempt to pinpoint Wolfgang concern on asbestos regulation and new' * regulation concerning Poisons. ; i^__,`S OF CALL: ~ In my ROC of September 3, 1976, Wolfgang raised the question that since asbestos is a known Human Carcinogen, and with the new Federal Regulation on Poisons, Section 173.343, Poison B, Toxicity on inhalation; can the weight of the laboratory rats and the concentration of dust to which they are exposed; and the weight of a man and the present two fiber TLV limit, can this data be extrapolated and applied to our regulation? If so our labels and customers labels, especially on dry mixes, should carry the Poison B label. If not do we have a legal responsibility to label our bags that asbestos is a Human Carcinogen? This would be in addition to the present warning label. It seem to Brian Carr that somewhere down the road both Union Carbide Corporation and our customers will get nailed for failure to fully Inform prospective users, that even though the law does not require such labeling, the fact that we know it is a Human Carcinogen and failed to advise customers, could weigh heavily against us in any litigation.
