The following general specifications and specific items will apply. All general specificaticns applying to the original construction with regard to excavation, concrete, structural steel, masonry and glass work, roofing, roof insulation, carpentry, painting and electrical work. Tne following specific items witn the exception of tne Carrier refrigeratioh"Units will be furnished by you. One 3'4" fireproof uocr on tne south-east corner of the addition. One 4' x 4' concrete leading platform in front cf said door with concrete steps to ground level. Eight Slimline fluorescent lig.nt fixtures 4' long 4-36W (481-12) or similar in two rows equally spaced across the 40 ft. width of the building. Two 25,000 B.T.U. i-'Iodine gas neaters with thermostats located adjacent to and at the opposing sides of the 22 ft. east and west side walls and suspended from the ceiling so that they blow parallel to the north and south walls. Two 3/4 ton Carrier refrigeration Units (16 x 28 in.) will be placed one each in the center of the panels at a height of 4 cinder blocks above the floor. Adequate steel plate or angle iron reinforcing will be required on the top side of the opening for the refrigeration Units. ASARCO ELP 0001305 2- - The concrete floor will be covered with Vinyl asbestos tile of same color and specifications as that in other parts of the building if such can be obtained but such should be at least equivalent in grade to that previously supplied. The ceiling will be covered with 12 x 12 x 1/2 in. acoustical perforated tile cemented to gypsum board and secured according to the original specification for such ceilings. The present exterior north wall will upon becoming an interior wall be filled between foundation pillars with Jj" cinder block to give a so'lid surface flush with the pillar surfaces. The present existing slag and cupel recovery bin is to be torn down and reassembled as is at a designated spot in the patio. West side drainage of the patio area will be abandoned and the east side drainage area will be lowered sufficiently to give east side drainage of the entire patio area. Electrical service will be obtained from an existing 30 or 60 ampere switch in room 19. Wiring to be adequate for the lighting load and 3 - 3/1+ ton Carrier refrigeration Units. Wiring to be in rigid or flexible metallic conduit with rigid conduit to be used where conduit is visible. All conduit, switches and outlets to be concealed wherever possible. switch. It is intended that these supplementary specifications should clarify the particular materials to be furnished and the work to be performed. EXCAVATION Excavate for building footings to minimum depth of 2'0". Grade 5*0" around building to drain away from structure. Fill and compact under concrete floor in 6" layers. CONCRETE Concrete throughout building to be 2,5U0 lb test in 2b days. Concrete, floors to be 4" thick and to be re inforced with 6" x 6" No. 10 gauge welded wire mesh. All concrete footings, foundation walls, grade beams, lintels, tiebearns, and columns to be reinforced with standard deformed reinforcing bars securely tied in place. STRUCTURAL STEEL AND STEEL DECK t. X~ - Trussed steel joists to be placed on 6' ti" centers and to be standard construction clear-span joists with roof slope to outside wall. To be the same as the joists in the existing building. Bottom of steel joists to be 10'0" above floor. Steel decking to be 22 gauge ribbed decking as manufactured by Airtherm Manufacturing Co., each sheet to be 24" wide and 20'2" long, spot-welded in place as recommended by manufacturer. Masonry pilasters to be atlas C-2 and C-3 hollow pilaster blocks laid flush with inside walls. All pilasters to receive reinforcing bars and to be filled with concrete thoroughly rodded. Sills to be Atlas sill units. All masonry units to be laid up with Richmortar. Vertical joints on either side of pilasters to be laid dry and caulked both sides to compensate for temperature changes. Steel masonry reinforcing installed every third course. Half Bull-Nose Atlas blocks to -be used as coping on parapet wall. The present exterior north wall will, upon becoming an interior wall, be filled bet-ween foundation pillars with 4" cinder block to give a solid surface flush with the pillar surfaces. Clean wall surfaces to receive paint. Standard Pittsburgh-Corning Argus 7 3/4" x 7 3/4" glass blocks laid up in Ricnmcrtar with expansion strips against masonry and steel reinforcing wall ties every third course. Class blocks to be continuous from 5'4" to 5'ti" above fleer and to within 16" of doors and pilasters. ROCKING, RCGF INS'JLATIGH AND GENERAL SHEET :tal Vapor barrier of cne ply of 15 lb felt to be mopped to the steel roof deck below 1/2" fiber roof insulation and the roof insulation mopped to the vapor barrier. Mop on 4 plies of 15 lb felt and cover witn gravel. Use asbestos base flashing and galvanised counter flashing at all parapet wall3. Jonns-iianville roof, 20-year specification with 10-year applicator's guarantee and with flashing endorsement. Oi--L 1/KIIIC Caulk all exterior openings with elastic non-staining caulking compound. STEEL DCCR AND FUi-lE The exterior swing door frame to be "Amweld", or ecual, 16 ga steel. The exterior door on the south-east corner of the addition to be 3'4" wide, fireproof, "Amweld", or equal, hollow metal flush type. Door to have heavy duty cylinder lock. FLOOR COVERING 9" x 9" x l/b" thick Vina-Lux Reinforced Vinyl Tile, Ganta Fe V-333, or equal, and 4" high rubber base cove, Fremont, ASARCO ELP 0001308 -3- 5rown, #CBi)7 to be installed. Color and weight of tile and base cove to be the same as that installed in existing building. ACOUSTICAL AND GYPSUM BOARD CEILING. CEILING INSULATION Acoustic tile, 12" x 12" x 1/2" thick random perforated fiber tile cemented to gypsum board as scheduled. Ceiling to be finished as follows: 1 1/2" runner channels to be secured to steel joists at 4'0" centers, 3/4" nailer channels secured to runner channels at 2'U" centers, 1/2" gypsum board nailed-on-u" centers to nailer channels. 4" thick mineral wool insulation batts to be placed on all finish ceilings. PAIKTING Exterior walls - one coat waterproof block filler and one coat of Vinyl base masonry paint. Exterior steel door - two coats lead-in-oil paint. Interior masonry and concrete walls - two coats vinyl base masonry paint. Interior metal - two coats of semi-gloss enamel. Ceilings of acoustical tile not painted. All colors, -to match color scheme of existing laboratory. PLUHBIUG All plumbing and gas fired heaters to be furnished and installed in accordance with Building Codes of the City of El Paso. Two 25000 BT'J Hodine Gas Heaters with thermostats to be located adjacent to and at the opposing sides of the 22 foot east and west side walls and suspended from the ceiling so that they blow parallel to the north and south walls. Vent all unit heaters in accordance with El Paso Building Code. The gas supply line to take off from the gas line above the present gas meter and to be installed adjacent to the inside of the roof parapet. The gas line to extend across the existing roof to the new addition. Cut off valve to be Installed at the point where the new gas line is connected. ASARCO ELP 0001309 -4- CCCLING Two 3/4 ton Carrier refrigeration units, 16" x 26", supplied by American Smelting and Refining Company, to be placed one each, in the center of the panels at a height of 4 cinder blocks above the floor.
