Weaver Asbestos Exposure Monitoring Attached are the results of the Asbestos exposure monitoring done on Insulators at the Institute Plant, Building 20. The monitoring was done on June 4, 1986 while they removed 60 linear feet of Asbestos from a 6 inch line and while being in the same trench replacing the insulation with Kaylo. It should be noted that two insulators removed their monitoring pumps at noon eventhough you were instructed specifically that they were to wear sampling pumps until the end of the day. It was important that the insulators wore sampling pumps the entire day because they worked in the same trench, where the Asbestos had been removed, therefore the potential for exposure still existed. (These samples cannot be reported because of inadequate information for analyses.) The Insulators were equipped with boots, disposable coveralls. headsock, gloves and a half-face dust respirator. The area was barricaded and signs were posted for the Asbestos hazards. The sample results indicate that the exposures were below the Permissible Exposure Level of 2 fibers per cc of air, established by OSHA for an 8-hour day (TWAg). Please notify the employees of their exposure monitoring results and if we can be of further assistance, please call us on extension 4779 or 3750.
